After adopting a new Downtown Master Plan in 2018, the city of Kirkwood began the process of implementing code changes to grow what became known as “the missing middle” in terms of urban housing. These multiplex units provide a vital link between single family homes in the area and the recently completed large-scale mixed-use developments at the city’s center. Savoy Properties began the process of acquiring strategic lots along Madison Avenue, across from city hall, for the specific purpose of building out the new master plan in the city they knew and loved so well.
CORE10 has been a leader in designing neighborhood condominiums of this scale since its beginnings. We were excited to bring these sought-after residential units we had been designing for the city of Clayton into the new market of Kirkwood. Initially, it was unknown if the residents of Kirkwood would be interested in purchasing homes of this caliber. But the unit floorplans and exterior design style CORE10 has refined in numerous previous projects proved to be the right fit for the residential growth that Kirkwood was searching for in their downtown. The Madison sold out before construction was even started. And so began the transformation of Madison Avenue.
